Kuya Daniel Razon, the man behind the innovations launched by Wish 107.5, is recognized as this year’s Lifetime Achievement awardee in the 25th Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) Golden Dove Awards.
Razon is the CEO and President of Breakthrough and Milestones Productions International (BMPI), the content provider of the FM station and its sister stations, Radyo La Verdad 1350 and UNTV.
The veteran journalist commenced his career in broadcasting as an FM disc jock in 1987. In August 2014, he spearheaded the 107.5 FM band and launched it as a station that plays hit tracks from the 70s up to the present.
Under his helm, Wish 107.5 became widely known for its valuable contribution to the music scene. One of the most recognized of which is the Wish 107.5 Bus, the country’s first FM-on-wheels. Since its unveiling, the one-of-its-kind performance stage has already witnessed numerous artists bringing their music right where their fans and listeners are — streets, roads and parks.
Another groundbreaking endeavor is his wish-granting advocacy. As a man of music and charity, Razon introduced the said campaign to transform Wish 107.5 into a station that is far from the usual. More than providing good music, he aims to touch the lives of “Wishers” by granting their earnest and heartfelt desires.
This advocacy is also evident in other projects sustained by Wish. In its annual music awards, the station doles out cash prizes both to the winners of major categories and to their chosen beneficiaries.
“Everything that you have witnessed [in this event] started with just a wish and of course a fervent prayer that we will always be able to take the first step to complete a noble deed that we will be able to introduce innovations and transform them into something more rewarding for a greater number of individuals. This is what we do at Wish 107.5,” the radio and TV personality enthused during the first Wish 107.5 Music Awards held in January 2016.
Razon earned the monikers “kuya” (big brother) and “Mr. Public Service” for the various charitable undertakings he has been sustaining for years now. Apart from Wish 107.5, he spearheads the public service endeavors offered by UNTV including regular medical and legal missions.
The 25th KBP Golden Dove Awards is slated on May 16 at the Star Theater, CCP Complex in Pasay City.
According to KBP’s official website, the Lifetime Achievement Award is given to media personalities and figures who have “significantly contributed to the advancement of the broadcast media and consistently demonstrated high standards of excellence and professionalism in his or her work.”
