Yohan Hwang

Sep 8, 2016

Yohan Hwang is a South Korean national who rose to fame in the local entertainment scene after winning as the first “Grand Touristar” of ABS-CBN’s “I Love OPM.” The competition was participated in by contestants, required to sing OPM songs,  who were all 100% foreigners.

Throughout his stint at “I Love OPM,” Yohan continuously earned the nod of the judges (Toni Gonzaga, Martin Nievera and Lani Misalucha)  and of the viewers as well. His winning piece, “‘Wag Ka Nang Umiyak,” ultimately cemented his status as a power balladeer — an image considered notches higher than his sweet, boy-next-door crooner appeal in the early period of the singing contest.

He first moved with his family to the country in 2014. It was in his school, De La Salle University, that he discovered his passion for singing. During a function, a friend suggested that he perform a Filipino song. After garnering praise with his rendition of Side A’s “Ako’y Sa’yo,” he mustered the courage to venture into the world of music.
