Brisom’s sound is one of the most distinctive you would hear in today’s gig circuit. The six-piece band composed of Brian Garcia (vocals, guitar), Terence Teves (guitar), Timothy Abbott (synth/beats), Jason Rondero (bass), MJ Dantes (synth/percussions) and Jeffrey Castro (drums) boasts of hooking electropop rock tunes.
Last April 11, Brisom took their music to the Wish 107.5 Bus as they returned to the Roadshow to perform both well-loved and fresh tracks.
“‘Balewala’ is our newest song and it was made just a month ago. We’re trying to play it almost every gig so that we can see what’s the reaction,” Brian shared, adding that they are already preparing for its music video as they are scheduled to release it as their latest single.
The track, filled with lush drum beats and synth pop elements, evidently showcases the influence of the 80s sound on their music. Their newest material is an infectious anthem for people who harbor one-sided love.
Apart from “Balewala,” the band also performed cuts from “Limerence,” their sophomore effort under Warner Music Philippines. Their setlist included lead track “Pride,” a song dedicated to “people who love to love;” “Unplanned,” the album’s second single; and “Bigkas,” one of their few Tagalog compositions.
Since Brisom was formed in 2012, they have already released two EPs — “Perspectives” (March 2014) and “Limerence” (April 2016). They earned a nomination for Best Emerging Band during the 2014 Yahoo Celebrity Awards.
The gents of Brisom are currently filling their schedule with stints on various gigs and festivals here in the country and abroad. They are set to perform at Four Age Marikina on the 26th; at the “Labor Union” event in San Juan, La Union on the 28th; at UP Town Center on the 29th; and at this year’s Bangus Festival in Dagupan on the 30th.
