Luke Mejares Takes Flight in New Album ‘Blackbird’

May 10, 2017

After five years, award-winning singer/songwriter Luke Mejares is back with a new album.

“Blackbird” features all-original tracks that include stellar collaborations with top-notch OPM acts such as Top Suzara and Jay R, who founded Homeworkz, the record label that released Luke’s latest effort.

The album serves as his fourth record since he pursued a solo career. The former vocalist of the legendary OPM band South Border has previously released “Stop, Luke and Listen” (2004), “Pangako” (2007) and “Kasayaw” (2012).

The Boholano singer graced the Roadshow last April 20 to perform some cuts off “Blackbird.”

The record’s lead single, “Aaminin Ko Sa’yo,” is composed by premier songwriter Arnie Mendaros, who also wrote the Kyla classic, “Hanggang Ngayon.” He also sang the Keith Martin-penned “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet,” a track the highlights his well-handled falsettos.

During his WISHclusive radio interview with DJ Robin, he also shared his ultimate wish as an artist.

“I really wanted to have a song that will be associated with me, yung masasabing akin talaga. Kasi I was part of South Border, and until now, kapag may show talagang nire-request pa rin nila yung songs from the band.”

“Blackbird” is now out on all AstroVision and AstroPlus record bars nationwide. It is also available via iTunes, Spotify and Deezer.
