After over three decades of staying on top of his game, veteran singer-songwriter Noel Cabangon shows no sign of slowing down.

Considered as a pioneer in the OPM industry, the former president of Filipino Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (FILSCAP) is slated to stage a two-part concert series entitled “Traffic Jam.”

The event will be staged on September 16 and October 21 at the Music Museum and PETA Theater Center, respectively.

“Fate led me to where I am now. And I’m very thankful because I was able to find meaning to what I’m doing,” Cabangon told Wish during an interview on August 18.

“That’s why I still continue to perform and write. I have always loved to sing and perform,” he added while revealing that originally, he dreamt of becoming a doctor — a profession far from the career that he pursues until now.

Thanks to his musical genes (his father and siblings are all musically-inclined), Cabangon has established himself as one of the country’s most respected folk and acoustic singers. He is primarily known for the classic OPM hits “Kanlungan” and “Tatsulok” — both of which are critically praised for its social and political relevance.

However, his upcoming “Traffic Jam” concert will not only showcase the kind of music he is known for. Aiming to show a different side, he will be performing tunes that Filipinos typically listen to whenever on the road.

The concert’s special guests include hitmaker Ogie Alcasid, rock icon Rico Blanco and soul/R&B diva Aicelle Santos.

“Traffic Jam” will have Phil Noble as its concert director and Nikki Cabardo as musical director.
