It was a powerhouse Roadshow gig when four of the most prominent OPM balladeers — Rannie Raymundo, Richard Reynoso, Renz Verano and Chad Borja — hopped on the Wish 107.5 Bus last April 27.
Collectively known as the OPM Hitmen, the quartet relived their greatest hits and performed a new track off their all-original album.
Renz Verano, who rose to prominence because of his witty and infectious pop ballad tunes in the 80s and 90s, delivered a WISHclusive performance of his signature hit, “Remember Me.”
Meanwhile, Chad Borja rendered his remake of the OPM classic, “Yakap.” Originally recorded by the late Fil-Spanish singer/actor Junior, Chad included this song in his 2013 effort, “Ikaw Lang, Sa Habang Buhay.” His revival was re-arranged by Japanese musician Yutaka Yokukura.
For his performance, Richard Reynoso sang one of his very first smashes, “Hindi Ko Kaya.” The veteran singer is also known for co-hosting the UNTV program, A Song of Praise, with Toni Rose Gayda.
Rannie Raymundo, who previously graced the Roadshow to perform “Why Can’t It Be,” opted to cover a personal favorite, Gladys Knight’s RnB/soul tune, “Neither One of Us.”According to him, this track is one of the songs he wish he had written.
For a WISHclusive treat, the four OPM acts delighted Wishers with a flavorful performance of their single, “Simpleng Timpla.” The song is about a girl who can be associated with the simplicity of a well-blended coffee. The four revealed that the smooth sing-along was actually inspired by the said beverage as it was written by Rannie while having a cup of coffee.
Catch the OPM Hitmen on June 3 as they are scheduled to grace the grand opening celebration of the Winford Hotel in Manila.
