Washing away a mother’s burden

As what people say, being a mother is one of the toughest jobs in the world. Acknowledging how overwhelming this role is, Reanne Dela Cruz hoped to somehow ease her mother’s load.

“I wish for a washing machine that my mother can use everyday so she can easily wash our clothes.” This is what she wrote for her mother Irene, 38 and a viand vendor, on our Wishing Wall.

According to Reanne, the eldest among three siblings, Irene is a hard worker.

“Although tired, my mom would still think about washing our clothes after selling viand. Her hands get very tired especially when she has to wash heavy clothes,” the Wisher from Pasay City shared.

So whenever possible, the diligent daughter would share this burden with her mother.

“I was the one who washes our clothes whenever I don’t have classes because I don’t want to see my mother getting really tired although she doesn’t say a word about it. I was so happy that you granted my wish because my mom would not get her hands tired of hand washing our clothes.”

On our second anniversary on August 31, Reanne’s heartfelt wish was granted. And as she witnessed the fulfillment of her dream, she and her mother couldn’t help but shed tears of joy.

“I hope that Wish 107.5 lasts for a long time and help more people like me,” she enthused.

Irene also expressed her gratitude for this charitable act, “I hope you’ll keep on reaching out to others.”
