Talented OPM artist Bugoy Drilon got to cross out an item off his wish list when he finally had the chance to perform with his musical hero, reggae star Matisyahu, in Los Angeles, California last July 7, Friday.

Describing the moment as “one of the best experiences” of his life, the Pinoy Dream Academy alumnus shared the stage with the international act for his signature hit, “One Day.”

The anthemic song, which was first recorded in 2010, is Matisyahu’s “call for peace.”

The 38-year-old American artist first noticed Drilon when he was able to watch his performance of “One Day” on board the Wish 107.5 Bus. The video debuted on Wish 107.5’s YouTube channel in September last year.

“I was blown away by it. I thought that this guy is really singing the song so well [and] with so much heart and soul. [He is] just so talented, so right away I shared the post on my Facebook page,” Matisyahu shared in a 2016 interview with DJ Alice of the Wish 107.5 program “The Wonderland”.

Drilon has previously thanked Wish 107.5 for being instrumental in his getting acknowledged by his musical idol.

“Of course, thank you so much. If it weren’t for Wish 107.5, [Matisyahu] wouldn’t have seen the video [of my performance],” he told the station.

As of writing, Drilon’s “One Day” cover has already garnered 19.9 million hits. The viral video has also earned him a slot in the WISHclusive Elite Circle, a group composed of artists with a WISHclusive video that reached at least 10 million views.

The first batch of the circle, composed of Drilon, Morissette and Darren Espanto, was introduced during the 2nd Wish 107.5 Music Awards held in January this year.

Meanwhile, fans are rooting for another duet from Drilon and Matisyahu as the latter is having a concert at the SM North EDSA Skydome this September 23. The Manila show is part of his worldwide tour promoting his latest album, “Undercurrent.”
