Wishers were in for a treat as Wish 107.5 successfully celebrated its third WISHdependence Day last June 12 at the Enchanted Kingdom (EK) in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
The fun-filled event included an adventure race in the afternoon and a star-studded concert in the evening.
The station’s avid listeners shared an unforgettable bonding experience as they participated in an adventure race that tested their cooperation and team spirit.
The quest was composed of stations that featured games prepared the WISHdependence Team and thrilling rides found at the popular theme park.
The participants, who were grouped into ten, were chosen via on-air question-and-answer contests weeks prior the event.
The Wishpers of Love team emerged as the grand winner while Wonderland, Daniel’s and Roadshow teams placed second, third and fourth, respectively. The other participating teams were Moonlight Wishes, Morning Wish, Roadshow, Wish List, Philnoni, Osteogard, and Nu-Moms.
Special Roadshow Tour
Before the concert proper, Wish 107.5 staged a special episode of Roadshow coinciding with the all-day revelry of freedom and music.
The Wish 107.5 Bus, stationed near the newly-opened Aguila Theater, witnessed performances from Zia Quizon and star rappers Dello, Smugglaz, Flict-G and Curse One.
On Zia’s return to the program, she rendered an acoustic version of two self-penned tracks entitled “Simple Girl” and “Everybody’s Talking.” The former was part of her 2014 eponymous album while the latter was a more recent composition, which she performed live for the first time during her Roadshow guesting at EK.
The afternoon got infused with punchy hip-hop vibes when it was the rappers’ turn to invade the FM-on-wheels. The artists performed their hit collaborations, “Nakakamiss” (all four), “Darating” (Dello and Flict G), and “Muling Mangharana” (Smugglaz and Curse One).
The said acts were also part of the WISHdependence Concert.
The star-studded concert capped off this year’s edition of the WISHdependence celebration. The night boasted a diverse line-up of performers including young belter Mela (of A Song of Praise Year 5 fame), The Voice alums Jason Fernandez and Leah Patricio, acoustic sensation Jireh Lim, rappers Dello, Smugglaz, Flict G, Curse One and Kababayan Tribe, Zia Quizon and DJ Robin Nievera.
Tawag ng Tanghalan (TnT) grand finalists Sam Mangubat and Froilan Canlas stole the spotlight as they fired up the stage with their respective sets.
Third placer Froilan crooned with OPM classics, “Kahit Maputi Na Ang Buhok Ko” and “With A Smile.” During his cover of the Eraserheads jam , he invited a lucky member of the audience to be serenaded on stage.
Meanwhile, Wish Promising Artist and TnT second placer melted the crowd with his take on Silent Sanctuary’s sweeping rock ballad, “Sa’yo.” He pumped up the mood later on with his sing-and-dance performance of Sarah Geronimo’s pop/EDM smash, “Kilometro.”
The last part of the show featured some of the most sought-after bands in the local music scene — Banda ni Kleggy, SUD, The Juans and Gracenote.
Apart from the quest and concert, the station also set up a Wishing Wall to welcome the wishes of the event’s participants and park-goers alike.
On the web, netizens created buzz about the event as they shared posts with the hashtag, #WISHdependenceEK2017.
