4th Wish 107.5 Music Awards’ Performers: Danish Pop-Soul Act Lukas Graham, Diverse OPM Line-Up

Since the Wish Music Awards’ maiden edition in 2016, it has become one, if not the biggest musical revelry to signal the start of each year.

Set every January and staged at the iconic Smart-Araneta Coliseum, the awarding ceremony serves as a prestigious avenue where the country’s music stars can be recognized and be brought to the forefront. But apart from the revelation of who will bring a WMA trophy, attendees of the awards night also look forward to the stellar performances that grace the Big Dome.

The past WMAs have witnessed stunning numbers from OPM stars including Arnel Pineda, Jett Pangan, and Nina among others. This tradition of offering memorable productions continues on the fourth year of the awards show.

True to this year’s theme, “Breaking Boundaries,” the WMA stage will serve as a unifying platform, welcoming acts across different genres and artists from both local and international music scenes.

Leading the roster of performers who will take center stage on January 15 is Danish pop-soul act Lukas Graham known for the worldwide hit, “7 Years.”

Funk-soul trio IV of Spades, whose Wish Bus performance of “Mundo” has been recently hailed as the first Philippine music video to hit 100 million views on YouTube, will also make their debut WMA performance.

The forthcoming WMA will further see performances from two of today’s hottest pop belters, Asia’s Phoenix Morissette and Asia’s Pop Sweetheart Julie Anne San Jose.

Making the occasion more soulful are the WMA debut of Moira and Queen of Soul Jaya, and the return of R&B heartthrob Jason Dy and Soul Supreme KZ Tandingan.

The night will also give nod to its newly-added categories — Wishclusive Hip-hop Performance of the Year and Wish Hip-hop Song of the Year — with numbers from Gloc-9, Shanti Dope, Loonie, and Ron Henley.

Promising up-and-comers TNT Boys and The Wishfuls are also great additions to this year’s performer-lineup.

TNT Boys is a vocal trio composed of Tawag ng Tanghalan Kids finalists Keifer Sanchez, Mackie Empuerto, and Francis Concepcion. Owning the past year, the group hit several career milestones with their sold-out Araneta concert and their stints on the US and UK variety show, Little Big Shot.

The Wishfuls, on the other hand, consists of Princess Sevillena, Kimberly Baluzo, Louie Anne Culala, Carmi Ariola, and Ace Bartolome. Products of Wish 107.5’s online singing show, Wishcovery, the quintet made history after their debut album “Wishful Journey” received Platinum and Gold record awards only a day after its release.

The 4th Wish 107.5 Music Awards, hosted by Gretchen Ho and Christian Bautista, is set on January 15, 2019 at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum. Voting is open until 12 noon of the same day. The public can cast their votes via the WMA website, the Wish App, and the Wish YouTube channel.
