A Jazzy Jam with Nicole and Carlo David

Wonder siblings Nicole and Carlo David jammed with Wishers on the Roadshow’s special segment, OPM Spotlight last May 27.

They owe their musical pedigree to their dad, Mon David, who is one of the most recognized jazz vocalists in the country.

Nevertheless, the siblings have been blazing their own path in the music industry on their own merits.

While on board the Wish 107.5 Bus, Carlo and Nicole shared that they originally lived in San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles but moved to the country to pursue music. The two, whose brand of music is a mix of pop jazz and soul, are greatly influenced by their father and the legendary OPM group, APO Hiking Society.

Their WISHclusive performances were a breath of fresh air as the two went unplugged, staging jazzified OPM classics like “Ang Pipit” and Gary Granada’s “Mabuti Pa Sila.”

The jazz duo also showcased their songwriting skills with performances of their original compositions, “Tinakda” and “Drifting.” Nicole revealed that she wrote “Tinakda” for her husband.

To complete their WISHperience, Roadshow host Jelly Kiss also challenged the two to take on the “Wish-oke” game. Carlo and Nicole had a blast while singing OPM hits to the tune of another popular song.

Some of the songs included in the challenge were “Itaktak Mo” to the tune of “I Won’t Give Up;” “Ang Boyfriend kong Baduy” to the tune of “Sway;” “Hindi Ako Bakla” to the tune of “Someone Like You” and “Basang-basa sa Ulan” to the tune of “Like I’m Gonna Lose You.”

The two admitted that they were really challenged by the game’s twist, but they had so fun sharing their music on board the country’s only FM station-on-wheels.

Asked about one experience they consider memorable as an artist, Carlo shared a mall gig where there were many people who cheered and took selfies with them. “They don’t know us but it seems they loved us,” he said.

The David siblings are new members of the Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit (OPM). The group is Wish 107.5’s official partner in presenting the segment “OPM Spotlight,” which airs every Friday, 7PM to 8PM.

This blog post has completely changed my perspective on music. It's a must-read for any music lover.
