A Song of Praise’s Special Sunday Program on Wish 107.5 Gets Extra Airtime

The special radio program of the A Song of Praise Music Festival (ASOP) on Wish 107.5 recently received additional airtime coinciding with the gospel songwriting competition’s welcoming of a brand new season.

“ASOP on Wishful Sunday,” formerly dubbed as “ASOP on Radio” and previously occupied the 5 am-to-6 am slot, is now being aired until seven in the morning.

Produced by Breakthrough and Milestones Productions International (BMPI), the one-of-its-kind music festival is now on its sixth year. It staged its Year 5 grand finals night at the Araneta Coliseum last November 7 and celebrated 12 new heavenly hymns and anthems.

While ASOP airs as a Sunday evening program on Philippine UHF Channel UNTV, the competition found its way to the FM band as BMPI and Wish 107.5 teamed up to promote the genre, Original Pilipino Praise Music (OPPM).

Renowned hitmaker Ryan Cayabyab first lauded the significant influence of gospel music supporters on mainstream media during the culmination night of ASOP Year 4, “It is like a small troop of army which when it penetrates the mainstream, it will grow into a large army.”

ASOP’s special Sunday feature on the station premiered on October 18, 2015.

After over a year since the program’s launch, praise music continues to gain footing in the traditional FM radio programming. Realizing what the partnership ultimately aims to achieve, ASOP entries are now also being requested by Wishers as frequently as other mainstream songs.

“It’s high time that praise songs become mainstream. God should be glorified in all channels and playing praise songs over FM radio is one good way of inspiring other people to take part in acknowledging the goodness of the Lord via songs of worship and praise,” Wisher Ferdie Libres enthused.

“ASOP on Wishful Sunday” is hosted by one of the latest additions to Wish 107.5’s roster of jocks, DJ Kim.
