Acclaimed Actor Carlo Aquino Pursues Solo Musical Career With Debut Single

Multi-awarded actor Carlo Aquino is now taking time to focus on something that he truly loves to do -- singing -- with the release of his debut solo single “Komplikado,” under Ivory Music & Video.

The bittersweet track from Carlo Aquino explains how a complex relationship can haunt a person. “Komplikado” is a collaborative piece between Aquino and Sarkie Sarangay of Pinoy alt-rock troupe, Silent Sanctuary.

Aquino is known for his various TV and film appearances, including the 1988 film "Bata, Bata… Pa'no Ka Ginawa?," and his more recent projects such as “Exes Baggage” with Angelica Panganiban, and “Ulan,” alongside Nadine Lustre.

But the multi-talented Filipino actor did not fail to dabble into music even at a young age.

Aquino’s musical roots started at home. His father, aunt, and brother all loved music. According to a YouTube interview, it was his brother who taught him how to play the guitar, which was a bit complicated because he is lefthanded.  But the young artist forged on. He shared that he will never forget the first song he learned how to play on the guitar -- Paco Arespacochaga’s “Line to Heaven.”

In between his acting duties as a teenager, he was one-third of the JCS band, which was composed of fellow actors/musicians John Prats and Stefano Mori. A few years later, Carlo served as the lead singer of KOLLIDE, a band he formed with his Counterstrike friends who shared a mutual interest in music.

And now the 33-year-old artist feels like the time has come for him to dedicate more time to his music career.

“Ivory Music got in touch with me a year and a half ago and asked me if I wanted to create an album. But at that time, I was preoccupied with tapings and filmings. But since singing is one of my first loves, I said yes. Because things were really busy before, things just started materializing this year,” shared Aquino.

The pop artist’s musical influences include American singer/songwriter John Mayer, and famous British rock bands Oasis and Coldplay. The multi-hyphenate also shared that he likes listening to the music of Rico Blanco, Ebe Dancel, as well as Ben&Ben and IV of Spades.

For Aquino, pursuing his music career is something that evokes a feeling of uncomplicated joy. “It just feels so good to be able to do something that I immensely like and I deeply love.”

“Komplikado” is now available on Spotify and iTunes.

This blog post has completely changed my perspective on music. It's a must-read for any music lover.
