A Heart to Help: ‘Ambassadors of Charity and Goodwill,’ Wish 107.5 Donate Php400,000 to Organizations

Wish 107.5 commemorated its 10th anniversary on August 11 with “Wish Date: Obscure” at the Araneta Coliseum.

“Obscure” broke the mold of previous Wish Date installments — a concert series known for combining film, theater, and live music — by highlighting what the music brand has been championing since day one: charity.

Beyond its short film and musical performances, the event saw the performers, hailed as “Ambassadors of Charity and Goodwill,” donate a total of Php400,000 to select non-governmental organizations. Stell, Silent Sanctuary, Gigi de Lana and the Gigi Vibes, and Neocolours, together with Wish, each contributed Php 100,000 to their respective beneficiaries, namely Save the Children, Pangarap Foundation, Inc., Cancer Treatment and Support Foundation Inc., and CRIBS Foundation, Inc.

Changing lives and keeping dreams ignited

For the event, Stell had Save the Children Philippines as his beneficiary. The world’s leading independent children’s organization has been operating in the country for more than four decades.

“We are grateful for keeping us and our work #ForAndWithChildren in mind during this special occasion. Your support as Life Changers for Children means a lot, especially in bringing hope to the next generation,” they stated in a social media post.

Save the Children Philippines has been a previous beneficiary of Wish during the 3rd, 5th, and 6th editions of the Wish Music Awards (WMAs). The WMAs sets itself apart from other award-giving bodies by letting major category winners to donate Php100,000 to their chosen charity.

Meanwhile, Pangarap Foundation, Inc., an organization dedicated to “providing holistic and nurturing interventions for the children and youth,” was the beneficiary of Silent Sanctuary.

Expressing their heartfelt gratitude, the foundation shared, “Your support will help us keep the dreams of the children in our care alive!

In an interview, the Filipino rock band described the special 10th-anniversary celebration as a “win-win situation, [combining] entertainment and helping people.”

Earlier in January, the organization received Php200,000 at the 9th WMAs. This donation came after TJ Monterde and The Ang Huling El Bimbo Cast won in their respective categories and chose the foundation as their beneficiary.

A unique experience

For Gigi De Lana, having the opportunity to help apart from performing was a unique experience.

During the latest Wish Date edition, she along with her band The Gigi Vibes granted Php100,000 to Cancer Treatment and Support Foundation, Inc., an organization committed to helping cancer patients and their families.

In a UNTV News & Rescue interview, she shared, “Iba ‘yung experience sa Wish, and ang daming natulungan tonight. I’m very, very proud of Wish sa mga ginagawa nila. So, sana sa mga susunod pang ganitong charity events, just invite us, [and] we’ll be here.”

Neocolours completed the roster of Ambassadors of Charity and Goodwill, choosing CRIBS Foundation, Inc. as their recipient. The organization sustains initiatives centered on child welfare.

The band also expressed their gratitude to Wish for providing a platform for artists to “propagate and strengthen OPM” worldwide.”

Both Cancer Treatment and Support Foundation and CRIBS Foundation were past WMA recipients.
