Bugoy Drilon Celebrates 10th Year in Music Industry with ‘One Day, One Decade’ Concert

In a fitting commemoration of his 10th year in the music industry, Bugoy Drilon showcased his versatility and delivered memorable performances during his anniversary concert titled “BUGOY: One Day, One Decade” held on September 25, 2018 at the Kia Theatre.

The three-hour show witnessed the OPM star dish out a genre-transcending setlist -- from his explosive performances of pop anthems from American Authors and Bruno Mars, his surprisingly entrancing take on Rivermaya’s rock classics, his flawless belting out of his own ballad hits including “Paano Na Kaya” to his majestic rendition of Matisyahu’s reggae smash, “One Day.”

Paying Homage

More than sharing his musical talent with the crowd who packed the 2,500-seater venue, Drilon paid homage to his humble beginnings.

In one portion of the show, he gave his own spin to the classics he grew up listening to, such as The Beatles’ “All My Loving,” Bee Gees’ “How Deep is Your Love,” and The Cascades’ “Rhythm of the Falling Rain.”

Concert-goers show their appreciation of Bugoy's heartfelt performance of Guy Sebastian's "Angels Brought Me Here" by raising and waving their phones like digital lighters.

The Camarines Sur-born performer became emotional when he recounted his stint at “Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2.” During his anniversary concert, he delivered a stirring rendition of Guy Sebastian’s “Angels Brought Me Here,” which was the audition piece he sang for the reality show ten years ago.

He was also reunited with some of his fellow “scholars” from the competition. He, together with Cris Pastor, Hansen Nichols, Miguel Mendoza and Liezel Garcia, entertained the audience with a sing-and-dance performance of The Greatest Showman track, “Come Alive.”

Sharing the Stage with OPM Stars

The 28-year-old singer also brought in a star-studded roster of guests, who are also coincidentally his labelmates and friends from the music scene.

The country’s pop-rock superstar Yeng Constantino shared the stage with Drilon for a medley of her hits “Hawak Kamay” and “Salamat.” The tracks were some of the originals she wrote and sang when she joined the pilot season of “Pinoy Dream Academy,” in which she emerged as the grand winner.

Yeng Constantino guest stars at Bugoy's 10th anniversary concert at the Kia Theater. Yeng and Bugoy are both scholars of the Pinoy Dream Academy.

In a heart-rending nod to premier OPM songwriter George Canseco, Drilon, Pop Prince Erik Santos and belter Klarisse De Guzman showed off their vocal skills with their performances of “Hanggang Sa Dulo Ng Walang Hanggan,” “Dito Ba,” and “Ngayon At Kailanman.”

The musical tandem of Soul Supreme KZ Tandingan and Drilon then escalated the mood from a mellow to a pumped-up one with their jazzified version of OneRepublic’s “Counting Stars.”

Easily earning cheers from the crowd, recently formed group BuDaKhel made hearts swoon with their undeniably impressive musical rapport. Composed of Drilon and R&B crooners Daryl Ong and Michael Pangilinan, the trio rendered a smooth Boyz II Men medley.

The Wishful 5, one of the newest acts signed under Star Music, also took center stage as they showed off their beautiful harmonies in their “Hindi Na Bale” performance with the main man of the night.

Giving Gratitude

Despite the comic antics and lines Drilon constantly dropped throughout the night, he never failed to nonetheless express his genuine feeling of gratitude to his fans and to the people who made the concert possible.

Bugoy Drilon marks his tenth year in the Philippine music scene as he stages his first major solo concert at the Kia Theater, dubbed "One Day, One Decade."

“To all my fans, I am very thankful to each and every one for always supporting me. I promise to always do my best in all my musical performances.”

“Kuya Daniel, thank you for granting my greatest wish -- to have my own solo concert. Thank you for this opportunity to showcase my talent,” he further said, giving thanks to Wish 107.5 and its main innovator Kuya Daniel Razon.

The FM radio station, together with its partners Star Events, Star Music, UNTV and Radyo La Verdad, produced the “BUGOY: One Day, One Decade” concert.

To the One who gave him the great gift of music, he has this to say: “I thank God for this opportunity...for giving me the talent to entertain people. Until now I cannot believe the success where I am at.”

This blog post has completely changed my perspective on music. It's a must-read for any music lover.
