Cash Donations from Wish 107.5 Turned Over to 3rd WMA Winners’ Beneficiaries
Wish 107.5 has officially turned over the cash donations to the chosen charitable groups of the winners at the 3rd Wish 107.5 Music Awards.
During the event held earlier in January this year, music stars who took major category trophies had the chance to grant Php 100,000 to the beneficiaries they selected themselves.
According to Natalia Tabal, Corporate Partnerships Manager of Save the Children Philippines, the financial help they received from the station will go a long way. “The Php 400,000 donation that Wish has given [our organization] will help [us] reach more children in the Philippines,” remarked Tabal.
The organization, which was picked by WMA-winning acts KZ Tandingan, Moira Dela Torre, Michael Pangilinan and Extrapolation, sustains programs anchored in education, and childhood care and development.
A timely help
Meanwhile, a representative from Bukas Palad Foundation revealed that the donation came just in time for a project they are about to hold.
“Days before the [WMA], we were talking about how can we raise funds because there’s a big gathering in July, and we were tasked to handle the outreach programs. One of the activities is the feeding program for a thousand children,” Isabelita Abendan, the foundation’s Executive Director, told Wish 107.5.
“And then suddenly, after a couple of days, we got your call - and it was really such an answer to our prayers. We would like to thank [your] management and staff for this very wonderful and interesting advocacy,” she said.
Bukas Palad Foundation, which was founded in 1983, helps alleviate poverty through its early childhood education endeavors, among many others. The group received a total of Php 300,000 as the chosen beneficiary of indie-folk outfit Ben&Ben, and star rappers Dello, Smugglaz, Flict-G and Curse One.
A first for a humble home for the aged
Mayvel Montano, President of the Marikina-based Sto. Niño Home for the Aged, shared that it was their group’s first time to receive a significant amount of donation.
The facility, which takes care of around 30 elderlies, received Php 100,000 as one of Morissette’s chosen beneficiaries.
“We’re very touched because for almost nine years, it was our very first time to receive something like this. We’re really delighted. We’ve been rendering our services for years now, and to receive [this cash donation], it gives a different kind of feeling. It is indeed a big help for us,” she emphasized.
She also thanked Kuya Daniel Razon, the progenitor of Wish 107.5’s one-of-a-kind endeavors, for coming up with such “a wonderful program that reaches out to the needy.”
A big thanks from the beneficiaries
Meritxell Children’s World Foundation, another beneficiary chosen by Morissette, also extended their gratitude to the radio station. The organization that provides care for the abandoned, abused and rescued children is a recipient of Php 100,000.
“To Wish 107.5, thank you for being a blessing to others. I hope you continue being an inspiration in helping those who are in need,” Kristine Padua, an administrative officer of the group, said.
She also thanked Morissette for her “continued support and generosity.” The Asia’s Phoenix Diva, who won Artist of the Year, also picked the same organization during last year’s edition of the WMA.
Sharon Theres Yap, education officer of the Philippine Animal Welfare Society’s Rehabilitation Center, also extended thanks to both Wish and pop diva Jona, sharing that “the Php 100,000 they received will enable [them] to rehabilitate the over 300 animals under [their] care.”
Other organizations who were granted with cash donations include Cancervants PH, Teach for the Philippines, Cribs Foundation Inc., Child Haus, Inspire Metro, and Visayan Forum Antipolo.
