The performances of Darren Espanto and Maris Racal at the first anniversary celebration of Wish 1075 on August 10 created a buzz in the Twitterverse and occupied spots on the Philippines’ trends list for three straight days.

Darren, whose charm and wide vocal range helped him gain a huge fan base, wowed the listeners with his flawless rendition of Sia’s “Chandelier.” The fourteen-year-old singing sensation performed the hit while sitting inside the Wish 1075 Bus.

As his eager fans waited for the video to be uploaded on the station’s YouTube channel a day after his live performance, they managed to make the topic “Chandelier” trend on Twitter. Later on the same day, the hashtag #DarrenChandelierOnWish1075 also entered the list and peaked at the sixth spot.

Upon the video’s upload, fans initiated again another trending effort, pushing the topic “DarrenChandelier On WishFM” to the local trends list from August 12 until morning of the 13th.

Fans never missed the chance to express their delight over their idol’s cover of the chart-topping hit on YouTube; giving the video an over-30,000 views as of press time. The video also gathered good reviews from online users.

For Darren, his guesting on Wish 1075’s first anniversary was “very fun.” Asked about the mobile FM booth, he said, “It’s really cool to have a mobile radio station and to sing for people in public on a bus.”

Meanwhile, along with the teen idol’s fans dubbed as ‘Darrenatics’, Maris Racal’s fans also took to social media to praise her version of Norah Jones’ “Don’t Know Why.”

The topic “MARISDontKnowWhy WishFM1075” made it to the list in the morning of August 12. The trending effort was sustained for at least two hours and peaked at the fifth spot.

Maris first rose to popularity when she emerged as the first runner up of the popular Philippine franchise of Big Brother in August last year. She was then introduced into the music industry with her inclusion in Star Records’ “OPM Fresh” album, which was released earlier this summer.
