David Archuleta to Return to Manila this September

The concert stage is all set for “Playback Presents: The Best of David Archuleta.”

The American Idol alum is making his anticipated return to the Philippines after six years with a show happening on September 14 at the New Frontier Theater.

Archuleta first gained fame as a finalist on the seventh season of American Idol and has since become a fan favorite. He is the artist behind the songs “Crush,” “A Little Too Not Over You,” “Something ‘Bout Love,” and “Touch My Hand.”

The singer has a deep-rooted history in the country. In 2012, he had a TV series called “Nandito Ako.” In the same year, he also covered OPM hits in his album “Forevermore,” some of which were teased in a video post.

Archuleta sparked major nostalgia when he staged a concert in the country in October 2017. He also boarded the Wish Bus and performed some newer songs.

His last visit was in 2018 when he held a holiday benefit concert for the Mabuhay Deseret Foundation.

Still active in the music scene, his latest triumphs include winning the 2024 GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Breakthrough Music Artist. He also released his latest track, “Rather Be Lonely,” in July. The music videos for “Afraid to Love” and “I’m Yours” earned recognition as the Best Music Video prize at the Cannes World Film Festival.

Archuleta is the latest act featured by Playback, a series of music events with a throwback theme. Playback previously held shows featuring Lifehouse’s Jason Wade and Boys Like Girls.
