Behind ‘Hamilton’

“Hamilton” is a musical created, starred, and produced by award-winning playwright Lin-Manuel Miranda. The hit musical, which is based on Ron Chernow’s biography of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, tells the tale of Hamilton’s life via hip-hop, R&B, and rap show tunes.

Some of the most notable songs in the musical’s 46-song catalog include “Alexander Hamilton,” “Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story,” “The Schuyler Sisters,” “Non-Stop,” “Washington On Your Side,” “It’s Quiet Uptown,” and “The Room Where it Happens.”

The show premiered Off-Broadway in February 2015 at the Public Theater in New York City before moving to Broadway in August of the same year, where it became a cultural phenomenon. “Hamilton” has since been performed in different parts of the world, including Australia and Germany.

“Hamilton” has been critically acclaimed for its ability to make history relevant to modern audiences through its impeccable musicality, choreography, and lyricism. The musical masterpiece took home several recognitions from award-giving bodies, including the Laurence Olivier Awards, the Tony Awards and the Grammy Awards.
