Heartwarming Wishes Turned into Fulfillment at Wish 107.5’s ‘2M x 2’ Thanksgiving Bash
Wish 107.5’s thanksgiving bash in celebration of their hitting the 2-million YouTube subscriber mark was truly thematic.
Starting off with the event’s name, “2M x 2,” the occasion was held on February 2 at the Centris Open Grounds. Its official hashtag, #Wish2MSubscribers peaked at the no. 2 spot of the nationwide Twitter trends list. But more importantly, something that the station wants to put in higher esteem is its commitment to grant Php 2 million worth of wishes in the next two months.
To kick things off, the first batch of heartwarming wishes was already turned into fulfillment during last Friday’s event.
One of the lucky Wishers was Sharmaine Villamater, who asked for a wheelchair for her 84-year-old father-in-law.
“I feel so blessed and thankful to God because I didn’t expect that among the many Wishers, I would be chosen as a winner. When I first found out, I was speechless!,” the Mandaluyong-based 28-year-old shared in an interview. “For him to be able to go out and visit the places he loves is really a great thing.”
Teen Wisher Ramela Pol also got her wish to give her mother a refrigerator granted.
According to Ramela, her mother sells viands to factory workers and church-goers. With the absence of a refrigerator in their home, her mother has to go to the market daily.
“I didn’t expect to win, but nonetheless, I feel very blessed!,” she said, adding that the FM radio station “stands out because it teaches good values.”
Another touching wish-granting moment happened as Jonas Aleta, an avid Wish 107.5 follower from Caloocan, received the TV set he wished for her mother.
“My mama really likes watching TV. One time, she even went to our neighbors’ house just to watch, because I had gotten our TV repaired,” he told the station.
As their TV was still not fixed, Jonas grabbed the chance to wish.
“My wish came true for my mom to be able to watch TV again. Now, she will be watching at home, not our neighbors’!,” he said in a comical note.
Meanwhile, Norma Guilba’s desire to help her family out paid off when her wish to have a sewing machine was fulfilled by the “wish-granting” radio station. She previously shared that she currently works as a cook for a family that lives far from her. The sewing machine given to her will let her work even at the comfort of her own home.
“When I found out that I was one of the winning Wishers, I said to myself, ‘Thank You, Lord, for this wonderful birthday gift!,’ the grandmother from Mandaluyong, who turned 58 last January 19, exclaimed.
Wishers who flocked to the event witnessed another heart-rending segment when Mary Joy Galias of Caloocan came up on stage and received a great news -- her wish to provide street children with a delicious meal treat will be taken care of by Wish 107.5.
“There are so many street children who are not able to eat well, or eat at all. This is why my children and I have made it a point to feed street children, and we’ve been doing this annually for five years now. We haven’t done it last year because we ran into some difficulties,” she shared.
In the next two months, Wishers can expect to see more wishes fulfilled. In an earlier interview, BMPI Vice President for Radio Gerardo Etorma III said that this endeavor of granting Php 2 million worth of wishes is the station’s way of thanking the fans “for their continuous support and love.”
Apart from the wish-granting, OPM celebrities also graced the “2M x 2” event, including Kris Lawrence, Sponge Cola, Kristoffer Martin, and Cha-cha Cañete.
