James Taylor Returns to Manila After Three Decades
Three decades after his 1994 Folk Arts Theater show, James Taylor returned to Manila for his concert, “An Evening with James Taylor & his All-Star Band.” The show was held on Monday, April 8, 2024, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
“It took a very, very long time. Thanks for having us back,” the hitmaker said.
Event promoter Ovation Productions announced the event in December last year, and it served as the second part of his two-stop Asia Tour that kicked off on April 6 in Tokyo, Japan.
The 76-year-old Grammy award-winning music legend had Ice Seguerra and Noel Cabangon as his special guests — opening the show with a medley of their songs “Pagdating ng Panahon” and “Kanlungan.”
A night filled with hits, the concert saw him perform classics, such as “Something in the Way She Moves,” “That’s Why I’m Here,” “Anywhere Like Heaven,” “Never Die Young,” “Country Road,” “Fiddle & Drum,” “Sweet Baby James,” and “Handy Man.” He also performed “Long Ago & Far Away,” “Mexico,” “Carolina In My Mind,” “Streamroller,” “Fire & Rain,” “Up On The Roof,” “Shower The People,” “Your Smiling Face” and “You’ve Got A Friend,” closing the show with “How Sweet It Is” and “You Can Close Your Eyes.”
