Janella Salvador Shares Messages of Body Positivity, Self-Worth with ‘Take It Easy’

If Christina Aguilera has “Beautiful,” Pinay pop singer Janella Salvador has “Take It Easy.” But though hers does not come in a dramatic ballad form, the contemporary-sounding track laced with chill beats still triumphantly delivers an empowering message for ladies everywhere.

Presenting the timeless theme of knowing one’s self-worth, the uptempo single marks the 21-year-old artist’s long-awaited return to the music scene. Its March release coincided with the celebration of International Women’s Month.

“Know that you’re beautiful/ You’re no less than wonderful/ You gotta know/ You gotta go and just…take it easy,” Salvador sings in her latest bop under Star Music. The song, according to her, is the lead single off her upcoming sophomore album.

During her latest Roadshow stint, the multi-hyphenate told Wish that she fell in an instant when the track was first presented to her.

“I wanted my first single [from the album] to be something different, something that can actually get a good message across. [And this song] is about empowering women. I want women to feel comfortable in their own skin and realize that there’s no standard when it comes to beauty — there are different kinds of beauty, ” she further said about the track.

Sonically, “Take It Easy” also sees Salvador depart from the usual sugary pop sound she is known for. “It is more mature compared to my previous songs,” she pointed out.

Prior to her latest beat-laden tune, she is best known for interpreting the Himig Handog 2014 finalist “Mahal Kita Pero” and for remaking the OPM pieces “I Can” and “Kapag Tumibok ang Puso.” The said revivals were part of her self-titled debut album released in 2015.

The optimism that “Take It Easy” conveys is also evident in its accompanying music video, which is centered on body positivity.

During her anticipated Wish Bus comeback, Salvador dished out a Wishclusive rendition of the inspirational pop anthem. Watch the video below:
