Last Dinosaurs rocked the Skydome at SM North EDSA, Quezon City, on Sunday, December 8. The band delivered a setlist packed with fan-favorite tracks from their earlier years and newer songs from their record “KYORYU.”
Warming up the stage was the front act, Oh, Flamingo!. The Filipino band showcased their tracks “Galit,” “Echoes/Psychedelic Sweater,” “June,” and “Inconsistencies.”
Halfway through their set, guitarist Pappu De Leon expressed how the indie-rock band from Brisbane played a huge part in their early years as a band. “Noong wala pa kaming enough songs to play, isa sa mga tinutugtog namin is Last Dinosaurs,” he mentioned.
Returning to the Manila stage after five years, Last Dinosaurs’ Sean Caskey, Lachlan Caskey, and Michael Sloane treated Filipino Dinos to their first set of hit tracks after Oh, Flamingo’s front-act stint. They performed "Afterlife," "Keys To Your Civic," "FMU," "Shallow Boy," and "Forget About."
A duet with Billie Dela Paz from Oh, Flamingo! was one of the best parts of the show: The alternate version of "Sense" evoked national pride, as the song featured a touch of Filipino lyrics.
In a witty remark, guitarist Lachlan noted their Asian features, considering both Caskey brothers are of Japanese descent.
“Oh, right. Kamusta, mga lods? Pinoy pride!” he said. “We kind of look a bit Filipino — kind of, kind of.”
The band’s setlist also included crowd pleasers like “Elton,” “Beaux-Mont” (dedicated to their long-time fans), “Paranoia Paradise,” “Wurl,” “Italo Disco,” "Weekend,” "Auto Sabotage," "Apollo," "Bass God," and "Zoom."
In response to the audience’s fervent demand for more, the band returned to the stage for an encore performance of “Stream” and “Andy.”
Despite performing in Indonesia the day before, they still managed to give a show their Filipino fans won’t soon forget. The band also promised to perform "Eleven" on their next visit.
“Thank you so much for making time extra special. We love you so much. We’ll be in the Philippines soon… We’ll be coming back here again soon. See you guys! We love you!” Sean exclaimed.
The #LastDinosaursLiveInManila concert was the final stop of The Last Dinosaurs’ 2024 Asia Tour.
