‘Moonlight Over Baler’ Actor Vin Abrenica Shows Vocal Chops in Roadshow Stint

Rising heartthrob Vin Abrenica mesmerized Wishers with his Roadshow stint last February 7, Tuesday, as he showed off his vocal chops and serenaded listeners with his cover of “Beautiful in My Eyes.”

The pop ballad, originally popularized by Joshua Kadison, dominated the local airwaves back in 2009 when it was revived by singer-actor Jericho Rosales.

Vin, the younger brother of Aljur Abrenica, shot to fame when he won the 2012 reality-based talent search show, Artista Academy, together with Sophie Albert.

Like his brother, his passion is not only confined in acting — he is also into music. In previous interviews, he shared that if time permits, he plays the guitar and sings. According to him, they got their musical genes from their father.

While he waits for his wish of having an album to be realized, the 25-year-old star is busying himself with various film and TV projects.

Last February 8, his Gil Portes-helmed film, “Moonlight Over Baler,” hit local cinemas. The romantic film was set in the popular and equally historical municipality located in Aurora, a province north of Manila.

“[The film] was taped in Baler and it shows all the beautiful places these, including the beaches and the spots where the Hollywood movie ‘Apocalypse Now’ was filmed,” he shared.

“‘Moonlight Over Baler’ depicts two love stories — one was set during the 1940s, and the other one, during the 80s,” he further revealed about his very first film. The plot follows the story of a retired teacher Fidela (played by Elizabeth Oropesa) who meets Kenji, a Japanese photojournalist (Vin), who resembles his former flame, Nestor (also played by Vin). The character of Nestor was a soldier who met his demise during World War II.

Vin is also set to star in an upcoming primetime TV series.
