Multi-Talented Maja: From Conquering the Dance Floor to Braving the Music Scene

Thicker than its usual crowd, the Wish 107.5 Bus witnessed scores of Wishers and passers-by gather around the musical hub parked at the Eton Centris, Quezon City on April 27. Notwithstanding the scorching summer heat, the eager spectators looked for the best spot and huddled together to catch a glimpse of an entertainment royalty.

Undoubtedly, Maja Salvador is one of the biggest names in show business today. Not only has she proved her praiseworthy acting skills, she has also earned the title of being the country’s “Dance Princess” with her innate finesse and elegance whenever she hits the dance floor.

In 2014, Salvador braved the music scene and launched her certified platinum debut album, aptly called “Believe,” under Ivory Music & Video. The record spawned her most popular song to date, “Dahan-Dahan,” a sultry cut that talks about the pains and aches that come with loving someone deeply.

Four years since its release, “Dahan-Dahan” received attention anew as the 29-year-old artist delivered a dainty performance of her smash single aboard the Wish 107.5 Bus during her recent Roadshow guesting.

If you happened to be on the trending tab of YouTube recently, chances are high that you’ve seen her Wishclusive. Premiered on May 4, the video has made it to YouTube PH’s Top 50 viral videos for music, and has earned over 200,000 views as of writing.

It has also received positive comments from her fans and Wishers alike. “You will always be my fave. You always give your best when it comes to acting, dancing, and even singing!,” netizen Rica Cadeliña commented.

Another YouTuber, with the username Omni and Bryce, described Salvador as “one of the most talented and passionate people in the industry.”

Taking Risks, Giving Her All

During her debut Roadshow gig, the actress-dancer-turned-recording artist however admitted that she is still “new to the music industry” and she “needs to be more confident with her singing.” Despite this, she believes that it is all about taking risks.

Salvador is a testament that indeed, taking chances pays off. As a proof, she was able to do a collaboration with Thai singer-songwriter ToR Saksit. The gentle, piano-driven ballad titled “Falling Into You,” was released in November last year.

“I went to Bangkok last September to record our single, ‘Falling Into You,’ which [Saksit] wrote. I spent only two days there so I really gave my all to come up with a great material,” she told Wish 107.5.

“I’m lucky because BEC-TERO Music Thailand was the one who got in touch with Ivory Music [Salvador’s record label] and asked if I can do a duet with him. I didn’t know what I did, but I’m grateful because I was picked out of all the talented singers in the country,” she added.

Her brand-new collaborative project is available for download across all digital platforms.

Salvador revealed that she will be heading to Thailand some time in June or July to tour with the Asian music star.
