Munimuni Longs for Inner Peace in Latest Single, ‘Kapayapaan’

Indie folk band Munimuni recently released their latest single, “Kapayapaan,” a track that serves as “a documentation of one’s personal battles with anxiety.”

On June 6, 2023, Munimuni debuted their latest single, “Kapayapaan,” a follow-up track to “Sikat ng Araw,” which the makata-pop band released early this year. Their newest offering was written by Munimuni vocalist and guitarist Adj Ajao.

“‘Kapayapaan’ is a documentation of one’s personal battles with anxiety. It recognizes the persistence of confusion in the middle of uncertainty, and expresses an intense longing for a sense of peace,” the five-piece band shares.

The track, which greets listeners with distinct repetitive drum patterns and flute elements, evokes a feeling of confusion and restlessness that is, without a doubt, familiar.

The song’s seemingly simple lyrics are hard-hitting sentiments and realities that all of us who have battled anxiety have wrestled with. Truly, “Kapayapaan” is a song for those who are seeking some well-deserved tranquility.

The song’s chorus, a succinct and straightforward one-liner, serves as the narrator’s poignant plea: to get a piece of mental and emotional serenity. “Mabigyan lang sana ng kapayapaan ang isip,” exclaims Ajao.

Following the release of their latest single, the “Kalachuchi” act will stage a single release party on June 10, 2023, at the Kubo / JTs Manukan Grille – Kalayaan Ave. in Quezon City. This event is presented by Munimuni and SYQL Productions.

Munimuni and singer-songwriters Johnoy Danao and Keiko Necesario, will be playing long sets, while Wishcovery Original’s Mei Teves is also set to render a performance during the event.
