Napapanahon: Ney Dimaculangan Back with a New Band, New Record

The man whose voice has immortalized signature OPM tracks from the 2000s such as “Sandalan,” “Dinamayan,” and “Sige” is back in the business.

Ney Dimaculangan, former 6Cyclemind frontman, has recently launched “Napapanahon,” a new album under Alpha Records that features his new band, NEY.

Together with bandmates Patch Sanchez, Arnee Escobedo (guitars), Louie Lopez (bass), and Kervi Capin (drums), Ney boarded the Wish 107.5 Bus on February 22 to perform some cuts off his latest project.

For their WISHclusive performances, the band rocked the bus with their carrier single, “Habag,” their album’s titular track “Napapanahon” and another original, “Sa Akin Ka Na Lang,” They also rendered their own take on Teeth’s “Prinsesa.”

Talking about the group’s inception, Ney recounted, “I asked them because I was putting up a new band. Pinakinig ko ‘yung songs sa kanila, and they liked it.”

Most of the band’s repertoire are songs that Ney wrote years ago. But one thing that ties these musicians are their passion for their craft. “We appreciate just about everything or anything — from old school to new stuff.”

NEY also takes pride in “constantly improving skills and knowledge” either individually or as a group. Banking on their over-a-decade experience in recording, performing live and creating new materials, the act is hopeful that they are on their way to conquer the local band scene.

Prior to “Napapanahon,” Ney released “Ney Dmac,” a solo effort featuring “a fusion of OPM alternative pop rock” under Star Music.
