New Music Alert: MidSummer, Kahel, Jaycee Griba, and Peniel Release Fresh OPM Songs

It’s a fast-paced world that we live in. And in this world, there’s also an abundance of fresh song releases — tracks that can get us through our day-to-day lives. In fact, here are four new offerings from KDR Music House that can serve as anthems to soundtrack your story.

Read on and consider adding these OPM pieces to your playlist.

“Manghuhula,” MidSummer

Have you ever experienced being in a relationship where, suddenly along the way, everything changed, and you never really knew what went wrong? In MidSummer’s “Manghuhula,” the narrator describes such matters and attempts to figure out the truth behind failed relationships.

“‘Manghuhula’ is for those people na niloloko na pero in denial pa rin. [It’s] very obvious na pero ayaw pa rin aminin sa sarili nila na niloloko sila,” the act shared during their Roadshow stint.

The five-piece Davao Oriental-based band is composed of lead vocalist Mae Ann Cabigas, keyboardist/rhythm guitarist Florence John Bagcal, drummer John Bryan Bagcal, bassist John Michael Cortez, and lead guitarist Ralph Vincent Ruña.

“Diwata,” Kahel

“Diwata” is a love track that depicts the relationship shared by an inexperienced lover and an experienced one. The song serves as a guide on how to take things slow and be worry-free when it comes to romance.

“Tungkol po ito sa isang eksperto sa pagmamahal at saka sa isang baguhan sa pagmamahal. ‘Yung diwata ‘yung baguhan sa pagmamahal. Ang kwento po ay ‘yung pagmamahalan nilang dalawa,” the six-piece up-and-coming act said during their recent Wish Bus guesting.

Kahel is composed of Marko, Jp, Isaiah, Erol, Stephen, and Rhodie. The band aims to be a relatable musical act by dabbling into various genres, ranging from whimsical to tear-jerking — complete with both witty and sad lyricism.

“My O.A.O.,” Jaycee Griba

Veering away from heartbreaks and sadness, rising singer-songwriter Jaycee Griba serenades everyone with his heartwarming original piece, “My O.A.O.” His debut single is an ode to a love that never falters.

“I wrote this as a pre-nuptial song for our wedding. So, it’s really for my wife, the main content of the song is for my wife,” he enthused during his Uncharted guesting on the Roadshow.

James Cliff Jhon, better known as Jaycee, delves into the depths of human emotions with his original music. Make sure to watch out for his upcoming releases and be inspired to believe in true love.

“Untitled,” Peniel

“A person trying to grasp a new concept in their life.” This is how Peniel described her latest track, “Untitled.”

The song speaks about vulnerability, encapsulating a stream of consciousness that bridges fiction and reality. It was inspired by the early stages of lockdown when she felt intense feelings of missing out on a lot of things.

The song will be part of her upcoming EP.
