Noel Cabangon, Ice Seguerra Pair Up for ‘Kwerdas’ Concert This November

Music is incredibly magical. When you envelope yourself with the music of an artist who truly gets you, the music and lyrics can comfort and caress your weary soul. In a way, the right song can make you feel a string of beautiful emotions all at once; it can even make you feel like you’re coming home.

This November, the acoustic tandem of Noel Cabangon and Ice Seguerra will serve up music that will aim to do just that — provide profound warmth and joy to a group of fortunate folks. The musicians will hold an intimate concert billed as ‘Kwerdas’ (String) on November 23, 2019, at The Tent at Solaire in Parañaque City, at 8 p.m.

Stripped-down experience

Stripping down songs to their very essence, Kwerdas concertgoers can expect an acoustic take on a set of popular anthems from the ‘60s up to the present.

The concert, which brings Cabangon’s mesmerizing, soulful voice and the soft, seraphic vocals of Seguerra at the forefront, aims to provide a weekend acoustic solace for music-lovers.

“We started with a theme, what the show would be about. We decided it would be like hanging out. What do you sing when you hang out? What do you sing when you open a song hits book?” Seguerra shared in an interview with the press during the show’s media conference.

Strings and musings

For over thirty years of making poignant musical pieces that touch hearts and enkindle minds, Noel Cabangon has become a mainstay in the local music scene. The former Buklod member, whose compositions boldly touch themes ranging from politics, human rights, and conservation of the environment, professed in a Roadshow interview that his passion, conviction, and obligation for music is as mature as his disposition in life.

On screens and stages, Ice Seguerra never fails to enthrall his audience with his undeniable talent. From his 2001 chart-topping track, “Pagdating Ng Panahon,” 2013 Himig Handog interpretation of “Ano’Ng Nangyari Sa Ating Dalawa,” to his latest collab with OPM outfit Sandwich titled “Koloring Book,” the 36-year-old artist is able to sing with immense purity.

Both channeling emotions through acoustically-powered tracks, the duo first shared the stage together in 2013 with their collaborative show “Tambayan Hits” at Onstage, Greenbelt 1, Makati City.

During their Roadshow conversation with DJ Alice aboard the Wish Bus on October 22, the two expressed admiration for one another.

“Kuya Noel has this way of writing that’s very pleasing to listen to. It sounds very simple, but it strikes heavily through your core. Sometimes you just need [that] simplicity. Because sometimes, if the song’s too complicated, it loses its magic,” the former child star, who enjoys listening to Cabangon’s “Nag-Iisa Wala Ka Na,” exclaimed.

“You can really see and feel Ice’s emotion, especially when he sings. He’s passionate about his craft. You can really feel the depth of his artistry and where he’s coming from. It penetrates the audience’s hearts,” Noel told DJ Alice.
