Ogie Alcasid, Adie, and More to Perform at Wish 107.5’s ‘Solstice’ Anniversary Show

“Solstice,” Wish 107.5’s ninth-anniversary show, is happening on Monday, August 7, 2023, at the MOA Arena in Pasay City.

One of the radio station’s most unique anniversary celebrations yet, the event will offer the audience a one-of-a-kind combination of a short film and live music. While the movie will star Enzo Pineda, Ayra Mariano, and Junjun Quintana, the stage will see performances from top-notch OPM acts, including Ogie Alcasid, Aegis, Adie, Jason Fernandez, and Peniel.

We’re rounding up their Wish Bus performances to get you even more excited for the event.

Ogie Alcasid

The premier OPM artist has many memorable songs that soundtracked various films and TV shows, including “Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw” and “Kailangan Kita.” But more than just a hitmaker, he himself has a flair for acting and hosting.

He has previously graced the Wish Bus and rendered some of his most beautiful compositions, including “Ikaw Lamang.” He described the song, which was originally recorded by fellow OPM icon Gary Valenciano, as one of his favorites.

Adie

Adie, or Adie Garcia in real life, has come a long way since he first captivated hearts with his viral YouTube uploads. After O/C Records signed him in 2020, his music found its way to more hearts.

Despite being a “pandemic discovery,” he gained followers with songs that are thoughtfully penned and earnestly sung — with the swoon-worthy “Paraluman” as his breakout hit. His growing catalog also includes the Wish award-winning “Tahanan” and “Mahika” (which features the talented Janine Bardin).

Jason Fernandez

Jason Fernandez is known for his tenure as the frontman of Rivermaya (He’s the voice behind their 2008 hit, “Sleep”). When he left the group, he continued to grow as a solo artist, even joining The Voice Philippines and leading the cast of the “American Idiot” musical in Manila.

What might not be known to many, however, is the part he played when Wish 107.5 was just starting. He joined flash mobs that were staged in the days leading up to the station’s unveiling in August 2014, lending his voice to a jingle called “Ano’ng Wish Mo?.” It bears the same name as the advocacy that gathered wishes in the metro, the most heartfelt of which were granted during Wish’s launching concert.

Peniel

Peniel Roxas, or simply Peniel, is the grand winner of Wishcovery Originals. In the singing-songwriting competition, she put her poetic sensibilities on full display with tracks such as “Stories” and “Prayer.” Her winning piece, “poet’s path” finds the wordsmith contemplating the craft of music-making.

Since emerging victorious from the contest, she has released more original tracks under KDR Music House. Her debut song under them is “Moon’s Offer,” a tune that puzzles over love, dreams, and the seemingly inevitable part of an artist’s life — solitude.

Aegis

Aegis is one of the most successful bands that the ‘90s and ‘00s have produced. The group has talented sisters Juliet, Mercy, and Ken Sunot as the lead vocalists. And they’re known for “Basang Basa Sa Ulan,” “Sinta,” and more anthems that have even inspired a musical called “Rak of Aegis.”

In this Wishclusive performance, Aegis showcase their musical prowess with  “Luha,” an emotionally charged song taken from their career-defining debut album, released back in 1998. Clocking in at under three minutes, the short yet utterly powerful performance highlights what they do best: evoking raw emotions with hard-hitting OPM songs.
