“One Day, One Decade” Guest Stars to Bugoy Drilon: “The Industry Needs a Talent Like Yours”
If there’s one more thing evident during Bugoy Drilon’s “One Day, One Decade” concert -- apart from him being one of the top musical acts of his generation -- it’s his fellow performers’ admiration for his artistry.
Whether it’s during personal interviews or post-performance spiels, the show’s special guests have expressed messages of praise and congratulations as Drilon celebrated his 10th year in the music industry.
“I am so happy to be part of this concert, and I wish you’ll have more years in the industry because this industry needs a talent like yours. After all, your talent is truly unique,” Erik Santos, the country’s Prince of Pop, shared.
“There are a lot of singers who can really sing but there are only a few who sing from their hearts, and you are one of them.”
Santos, together with Birit Queen Klarisse De Guzman, joined the OPM versatile for an outstanding medley of George Canseco classics.
Yeng Constantino, who was personally invited by Drilon, said that an artist like him is “meant for an international audience.”
“I’m really happy for Bugoy because I’ve always believed in his talent since his stint in Pinoy Dream Academy. I admire his vocal runs, and the way his style had evolved throughout the years...I wish the whole world would hear his voice!,” the pop-rock superstar added.
Both top-calibre acts emerged victorious from the said reality show. Constantino won the grand prize during the pilot season while Drilon was Season 2’s 1st runner-up.
Fellow Pinoy Dream Academy scholar Liezel Garcia also gave her heartfelt message, “I am so happy for you, and I’m very proud of you! You deserve this because you are a great artist. I wish that you’ll continue singing and inspiring people through your music. Always be humble and don't forget to thank God for all of the wonderful things that He has given you.”
During the concert, Drilon reunited with his co-contestants, including Garcia, Cris Pastor, Hansen Nichols, and Miguel Mendoza.
Soul Supreme KZ Tandingan, another good friend of the 28-year-old singer, also couldn’t help but be happy for him: “This concert is worth the wait! Bugoy has dedicated his heart to this concert.”
“Despite being one of the best singers in the Philippines, Bugoy had always been so humble. He is never intimidating; he had always been so warm and welcoming. The friendship that he builds with the people around him is remarkable,” she further remarked.
The two shared an impressive duet of OneRepublic’s “Counting Stars.”
Meanwhile, Daryl Ong revealed during the concert that Drilon was actually one of his inspirations why he joined competitions and went after his wish of making it to the music industry.
“I’m honored and blessed to share the stage with Bugoy because he is really one of my favorite local artists. I admire his creativity and passion for his music,” he enthused.
The R&B heartthrob is one-third of the popular vocal trio BuDaKhel, which also includes Drilon and crooner Michael Pangilinan. The three displayed their smooth pipes and sweeping harmonies in their medley of Boyz II Men hits.
Bugoy Drilon’s “One Day, One Decade” anniversary concert is produced by Wish 107.5, in partnership with Star Music, Star Events, UNTV, and Radyo La Verdad 1350.
