OPM Serenade Songs To Make Your Special Someone’s Heart Swoon

Romantic gestures don’t always have to be grand. After all, there are countless ways you can express your love — from sharing a cup of warm coffee to spending quality time with your significant other.

And if you prefer to let the music do the talking, we get you.

Love songs have a special way of making people swoon. Lyrics that light up the face. Notes that tug at the heartstrings. And the artists’ singing and playing that bring out all those romantic emotions to the surface.

Count on this selection if you want to serenade your special someone with OPM love songs performed aboard the Wish Bus.

Ben&Ben – “Araw-Araw”

Araw-Araw,” the closing track off Ben&Ben’s “Limasawa Street” album, greets listeners with heavenly vocal harmonies. But make no mistake: These vocals are only the start of what would be a nearly-six-minute folk-pop number that profoundly depicts the enigma of love.

While love does work in many mysterious ways, one thing is clear: once found, it’s something that you need to choose and work on — day after day.

Swoon-worthy lyrics:

Mahiwaga

Pipiliin ka sa araw-araw

Mahiwaga

Ang nadarama sa’yo’y malinaw

Adie – “Tahanan”

If Ben&Ben’s “Araw-Araw” is a paean for your “mahiwaga,” this Wish award-winning original from Adie is an ode to your “tahanan.” “Tahanan,” the song, carries a gentle, comforting melody that soundtracks the story of two people finally finding their home in each other.

According to the singer-songwriter, his family served as his inspiration for the track. Take this tidbit of trivia as your cue to serenade not just your significant other, but all the other people you hold close to your heart.

Swoon-worthy lyrics:

Bumabagal ang ikot ng mundo

Kapag ika’y nariyan

O aking tahanan

TONEEJAY – “Kanta ni Sam”

Abounding in vivid metaphors, “Kanta ni Sam” is a tender contemplation on love and an anthem for true-blue romantics. It’s part of TONEEJAY’s recently released album “Kasama Kita,” and contains some of his favorite self-penned lines.

Though it’s a song specifically written for the artist’s now-fiancée, you can still dedicate it to your own muse. Turn up the volume and use this Wishclusive to melt the heart of that one person who makes your heart sing.

Swoon-worthy lyrics:

Kay sarap awitin ng pag-ibig

Lalo na’t alam ko na mahal mo rin ako

TJ Monterde – “Walong Bilyon”

In a world with too many billion people, what are the odds of finding “the one”?

If David Pomeranz (whose songs you’ll hear everywhere in the country during love month) has “Born For You,” our country’s very own TJ Monterde has “Walong Bilyon.” It’s a mellow and sweeping OPM piece about the miracle of meeting your one true love — and of getting one of your life’s biggest and most earnest prayers finally answered.

Swoon-worthy lyrics:

Sa walong bilyong nakasilong

Ikaw ang aking nakasalubong

Ating awit ay iginuhit ng langit

SunKissed Lola – “Pasilyo”

In late 2022, rising OPM outfit SunKissed Lola found themselves occupying the top spot of Spotify’s Viral 50 chart with “Pasilyo,” a song that tastefully portrays the experience of marrying the love of your life.

There’s something fascinating about the song’s use of poetic words and unconventional phrasing, courtesy of vocalist, songwriter, and Wishcovery alumnus Alvin Serito. A palpable rush of emotions also arrives along with the wooing guitar instrumentation and suave bass and drum lines. Add the chorus — where co-vocalists Dan Ombao and Laura Lacbain harmonize for the simple-but-memorable “Ikaw at ikaw” — and you’ll understand why the young band was able to achieve such a milestone.

If you see yourself spending the rest of your life walking down that endless aisle of love with your special someone, this is the track to play.

Swoon-worthy lyrics:

Paboritong panalangin ko’y

Makasama ka sa pagtanda

Ang hiling sa Dios na may gawa

Apelyido ko’y maging iyo

Johnoy Danao – “Ikaw at Ako”

Love is such a universal and vast feeling that capturing its enormity in one single song can be such an arduous task. But to write a beautiful love song, you often just need one thing: sincerity.

Johnoy Danao’s best-recognized hit is powerfully anchored in that, and it shows in the melody, more so in the lyrics.

In this acoustic ballad, the songsmith intimately declares a life-long vow, line after line. It’s a vow that’s both dreamy and realistic: it acknowledges that love isn’t always rainbows and butterflies, but it also knows that two hearts that are faithful to each other can make it through.

Swoon-worthy lyrics:

Sa mundong walang katiyakan

Sabay natin gawing kahapon ang bukas

Parokya Ni Edgar – “Para Sa’yo”

“Ikaw at Ako” and Parokya Ni Edgar’s “Para Sa’yo” have their own take on emotional honesty. While the former’s narrator speaks lines seemingly taken straight out of a wedding vow page, the latter’s words are reminiscent of a late-night conversation with a would-be lover.

He’s straightforward and unashamedly flawed — a human who fully knows he can break hearts. But, ultimately, he gives in to the strong pull of love. The surprisingly romantic turn in the chorus seals the ditty’s status as a classic, not-your-ordinary serenade song.

Swoon-worthy lyrics:

Pero para sa’yo

Ako’y magbabago

Kahit mahirap

Kakayanin ko

Dahil para sa’yo

Handa ‘kong magpakatino

Laging isipin

Lahat ay gagawin basta para sa’yo
