Paolo Sandejas to Treat Fans with ‘The Bloom Tour 2023’ Finale on May 13

The final show of Paolo Sandejas’ “The Bloom EP Tour” will happen on May 13, 2023, at KUBO Bar, in Kalayaan Ave., Quezon City.

Dubbed “PAOLO & FRIENDS,” the show will spotlight a setlist that features groove-inducing tracks off the singer-songwriter’s “BLOOM” EP and his chart-topping releases. Fellow musical acts such as TALA, Timmy Albert, Over October, and Of Mercury will also join the young music maker onstage to render live performances.

Two weeks after “BLOOM” — his latest EP following his pandemic-released debut effort titled “Purple Afternoon” — dropped, Sandejas started busking around the metro with his special guests Martti Franca, Jarlo Bâse, Janine Teñoso, Ysanygo, Will Mikhael, TALA, and of Mercury.

The long-anticipated EP, which came after the release of “Aftertaste” (the artist’s latest collaborative single with labelmate TALA), features six tracks that collectively muse about “human emotions and experiences.”

The sound of the heartsick and healing

Three years after dropping his first-ever EP, the 22-year-old OPM creator has kept on writing music to “comfort people.” Sandejas has a knack for resonating with his listeners via his distinct bedroom pop sound — songs that are blanketed in summery melodies and groovy beats.

“Through both happy and sad songs, I wanna give people music that can accompany them through the ups and downs of life. Music has always done that for me, and now I just wanna be able to contribute and return the favor,” the singer-songwriter shared in a 2020 interview.

The goal of offering tunes that console the heartsick is evident in his “BLOOM” EP. In this collection of six feel-good tracks, the feelings of pain and sorrow are beautifully narrated in a subdued and metaphoric manner. The EP also highlights Sandejas’ blooming artistry, with his songs’ more mature lyricism, forward-looking storytelling, and a richer soundscape.

Starting off with the EP’s carrier single, “BLOOM,” the percussive accents and electric guitar embellishments usher Sandejas’ listeners to a “journey of healing” — a season of change in life and love.

“It sounded so bright and hopeful so I wanted to match that with lyrics rooted in the same theme. I also wanted to console people who may be stuck looking back on what once was and encourage them to look forward… and bloom,” Paolo said.

With “Liquid Courage” and “BORED? (hope you’re happy),” the singer-songwriter tackles jaded feelings, contemplations, and complications while spotlighting his guitar-playing skills and soothing vocals.

“Different Shade of Blue” is a vibrant song about how love can naturally change someone’s outlook on life, while “HIDE & SEEK” is an ode to succumbing to and trying one’s luck on love. “Aftertaste” is, sonically, a comforting warmth to a scarred heart. The playful acoustic track also features the soothing vocals of Filipina OPM act TALA.

With its slow jams and dreamy vibes, the “BLOOM” EP is proof of Paolo Sandejas’ glowing and growing musical charm — he has the uncanny ability to envelop a slew of emotions into euphonic offerings and win the hearts of those going through the vast complexities of life.

Recently, Paolo Sandejas was named one of Spotify’s RADAR Artists of 2023. Earlier in January, he was nominated for the “Wishclusive Contemporary R&B Performance of the Year” award for his 2021 track, “Dad Jeans.”
