Rex Orange County Headed to Manila in October

British singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Alexander James O’Connor, popularly known as Rex Orange County, is set to perform live in Manila on Oct. 8, 2023, at the Araneta Coliseum.

Tickets for the show are now on sale via event producer Insignia Presents and all Ticketnet outlets nationwide, with prices that range from Php3,180 to Php4,770.

Apart from the Philippines, the indie-pop artist will also grace the stages of Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand for his first-ever Asia tour. Rex’s live show in the country back in 2020 was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Like many musical acts, Rex also had humble beginnings before bursting into the limelight in 2017. One of his earliest and most well-received songs was with fellow artist Benny Sings titled “Loving is Easy,” which now has over 37 million views on YouTube and over 459 million streams on Spotify as of writing. The funky and catchy track showcases Rex’s knack for crafting memorable melodies while delivering simple yet heartfelt lyrics.

Another 2017 release, “Best Friend,” is an uplifting anthem about the strength of friendship that has won over the hearts of international listeners. It currently has more than 587 million streams on Spotify, making it Rex Orange County’s most popular song on the platform.

Rex also collaborated with American rapper and producer Tyler, The Creator on the latter’s “Flower Boy” album, which has further boosted Rex’s career.

“I had 500 followers on SoundCloud at the time when I headed out to LA and nobody really knew who I was. It made me realize that if I have to believe in myself, then someone like Tyler will believe in me, too. He’s taught me a lot, but also just him giving me a mirror to look at what I did — that I had made it out there and done it on my own,” Rex said in a press release.

The pair teamed up once again in 2022 for the song “OPEN A WINDOW,” which is part of Rex Orange County’s 11-track album, “WHO CARES?”
