Rolando Astorga: DJ For a Day

“Just continue to inspire other people. Just continue to grant more wishes.”

This is what Rolando Astorga, a 2nd year Mass Communication student from Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa, told Wish 107.5 after the FM station granted his wish of becoming a disc jock even for a day.

Rolando was given an opportunity to join Jelly Kiss on board the Wish 107.5 Bus as her co-DJ during the station’s local broadcast in the well-attended 7th Philippines International Pyromusical Competition held at the SM Mall of Asia.

Veteran jock Jelly Kiss personally trained Rolando who branded himself as DJ Asia. Acquainting him with a DJ’s daily grind, she asked him to introduce a song, throw spiels and imagine an interview with music icons.

Although a student performer in their campus radio, Rolando still felt the pressure of going live with a professional jock. Nonetheless, he felt overwhelmed because he did the jockeying inside the country’s first FM-on-wheels.

A thankful Rolando stepped out the Wish bus fulfilled and more motivated to be the DJ Asia he dreams to be.
