Songs for Heroes 2: Helping Heroes through Music

Today’s finest artists and performing groups gathered on June 30 at the Mall of Asia Arena to perform in Songs for Heroes 2: Ang Mamatay Nang Dahil Sa’yo (To Die For You), a benefit concert for Philippines’ gallant uniformed men.

Wish 107.5 supports Breakthrough and Milestones Production (BMPI), organizer of the charity concert, in its advocacy of helping the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) through a night of music and patriotism.

The concert featured seasoned and up-and-coming artists from the music and theatre industry including Kuh Ledesma, Jed Madela, Gerphil Flores, Gwyneth Dorado and the University of the Philippines (UP) Dance Company and the Ramon Obusan Folkloric Group.

Special video presentations were also shown following the story of two friends who dreamt of serving the country then became a police officer and a soldier later on.

The performers, along with the well-selected members of the PNP and the AFP, rendered song and dance numbers that depicted the triumphs and hardships faced by the country’s defenders.

Some of the songs rendered were “Batang Bata Ka Pa,” “Mangarap Ka,” “Lipad,” Ikaw, Ako, Tayo’y Magkakapatid,” “Pilipinas Kong Mahal,” “Panatang Makabayan,” and” Ako ay Pilipino.”

One of the higlights of the evening was a rare performance by AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Gregorio Catapang and PNP Officer-in-Charge Gen. Leonardo Espina. The two, joined by Progressive Broadcasting Corporation President Atom Henares, sang a memorable rendition of “That’s What Friends Are For.”

The team behind the successful concert also included Dulaang UP’s creative director Alex Cortez, renowned singer-songwriter Mon Del Rosario, award-winning writer-director Floy Quintos and Indie film director Pedring Lopez.

Songs For Heroes 2, which raised a total of Php 8 million, is the sequel of the benefit concert of the same title held on March 19 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Wish 107.5 is one of the official media partners of BMPI and Songs for Heroes 2.
