Rising Stars: S’pore band The Sam Willows and Fil-Am artist Eric G
Wish 107.5 welcomed Singaporean sensation The Sam Willows and Fil-Am singer and songwriter Eric G to the station’s musical bus for an exciting WISHclusive performance.
The Sam Willows is an indie-pop band composed of siblings Benjamin and Narelle Kheng with their friends Jonathan Chua and Sandra Riley Tang. The group’s YouTube channel has already garnered over four million views. The band was also named by iTunes as the Best 2015 Artist in Singapore.
During their guesting, the band performed a cover of Little Mix’s “Secret Love Song” and “For Love,” an original from their album “Take Heart.”
The Sam Willows visited the country for a series of gigs in the metro.
“Philippines is one of the most vocally proficient countries in the world. No pressure. We have to say, back in Singapore, you guys in the Philippines have a title as the singing nation…all of my Filipino friends can sing,” the group shared.
They also commended the concept of the bus, saying that performing onboard felt “so surreal.”
Eric G shared the same sentiment, “I’ve never seen a radio station like this, it’s so unique, and I’m so blessed to be here.”
The budding composer visited to promote his new album, “Black and White” led by the Tagalog singles “Jack en Poy” and “Sarap ng Buhay.”
Eric admitted that he is an avid fan of Michael Jackson and APO Hiking Society, citing them as his biggest musical influences. But for a dream collaboration, he dropped the name of Mr. Pure Energy, Gary Valenciano.
When asked what drives him to make music, he shared, “I want to be original.”
“What inspires me the most is the people who seem to be really enjoying original music,” he added.
