The Voice Kids Champ Lyca Gairanod Inspires with 'Puede Nang Mangarap'

Carrying a bagful of aspirations of helping her family in their daily living, then nine-year-old Lyca Gairanod braved the stage of The Voice Kids Philippines and belted out the popular Aegis hit, “Halik.”

Since then, the little Caviteña has been receiving acclaims from music lovers across the country for her powerful vocal prowess despite her young age. Even after emerging as the show’s grand winner, she continues to reach for her dream and more importantly, serve as an inspiration to others.

One proof is the success of her debut album, “Puede Nang Mangarap,” which she humbly shared during her Roadshow guesting on February 16, 2016.

On board the Wish 107.5 Bus, the only FM-on-wheels in the country, the young biritera charmed the Wishers with her performances of “Basang Basa sa Ulan,” her winning piece on The Voice Kids, and “Sa Isang Awit,” her ablum’s second carrier single.

According to Lyca, her latest single retells the story of how singing led her to stardom. “Sa isang awit po, natupad yung wish ko,” she enthused.

Prior to joining The Voice, she led a hard life as a junk vendor with her family. She started singing in front of her family and friends at a young age. Despite facing financial hurdles, her parents saved up for an audio component to further hone her talent.

But even with the success she’s been reaping, she said that “[she] will never forget where [she] came from.”
“Puede Nang Mangarap,” which contains eight all-Filipino tracks, offers a glimpse into Lyca’s exciting musical adventure. It includes a rendition of Carol Banawa’s “Iingatan Ka” and a Jamie Rivera-penned song, “Tayo ay Maglaro.”

Capping off her WISHperience, Lyca exclaimed how her Roadshow stint is a wish-come-true for her. “Matagal ko na po kasi talagang pangarap makasakay sa bus,” she said, adding that she herself is an avid viewer of the station’s YouTube channel where various WISHclusive performances are uploaded.

Currently, the Wish 107.5 YouTube channel is the most viewed channel by a local FM station with nearly 22 million views.

This blog post has completely changed my perspective on music. It's a must-read for any music lover.
