Wish 107.5 Grants Over Php 2 Million in 3rd Wish Music Awards, Earns Nod From Charitable Organizations

Apart from Filipino music, charity was also a big winner in the recently held 3rd Wish 107.5 Music Awards as a total of Php 2.1 million was given to both the winners of the major categories and their chosen beneficiaries.

Save The Children, an organization that helps provide the basic needs of less fortunate children, received Php 400,000 in total. The group was the chosen beneficiary of Moira Dela Torre, Michael Pangilinan, KZ Tandingan and Extrapolation.

The said artists won Wishclusive Contemporary Folk Performance of the Year, Wishclusive R&B Performance of the Year, Wish Urban Song of the Year and Wish Promising Artist of the Year awards, respectively.

Rosemarie Garcia, a representative of the foundation, thanked the artists and told Wish that she hopes that “more organizations should be given the chance to receive aid” from the FM radio station.

On the official Twitter account of Save The Children, they also expressed their gratitude to Wish 107.5 “for showing that music and advocacy are always a wonderful mix.”

Meanwhile, Php 300,000 was granted to Bukas Palad Foundation, a group that eyes to alleviate poverty through its early childhood education endeavors, among many others.

The institution was picked by Ben&Ben, the indie folk troupe that won Wish Contemporary Folk Song of the Year and Wish Group/Duo of the Year, and by urban acts Curse One, Dello, Flict-G and Smugglaz who won Wishclusive Collaboration of the Year.

Wish 107.5 also gave a total of Php 200,000 to Cancervants PH as the beneficiary of funk fusion upstart IV of Spades, who bagged the Wishclusive Urban Performance of the Year and Wish Rock/Alternative Song of the Year trophies.

“We sincerely express our gratitude to the band, the radio station, and the people behind their teams...We will say it again and again and again if we must -- thank you for your golden hearts,” the group, which mounts fund-raising projects to subsidize the medical expenses of cancer patients in the country, shared on their Instagram account.

Teach for the Philippines, Cribs Foundation Inc., Child Haus, The Philippine Animal Welfare Society, Inspire Metro and Visayan Forum Antipolo each received Php 100,000 as the beneficiaries of Wish-award winning acts Tom’s Story, 5thGen, Jay R, Jona, TJ Monterde and Ylona Garcia, respectively.

Morissette, who took home two major awards -- Wishclusive Pop Performance of the Year and Wish Artist of the Year -- chose Sto. Niño Home For The Aged Inc. and Meritxell Children’s World Foundation Inc. as her beneficiary. The groups were each granted Php 100,000.

Leah Lagmay, a representative of the Meritxell Children’s World Foundation, recognized the charitable advocacy of the Wish 107.5 Music Awards. “You are a mouthpiece to social awareness. You are a means by which we can spread the word to so many Filipinos that if we all come together, we can do many things for the needy,” she enthused.

Annually, Wish 107.5 gives Php 100,000 to the charitable entities selected by major award winners, and Php 25,000 to the winning artists, tax-free.
