Wish 107.5 Explores New OPM Territories with Latest Campaign, ‘Uncharted’

In every corner of the vast and thriving OPM landscape, there’s a song, a story — a voice — waiting to be discovered. With Wish 107.5’s newest endeavor, Uncharted, the FM radio station provides rising and independent Filipino artists a platform to share their original music.

Wish 107.5 will start accepting demo submissions for this project on May 15, 2023, Monday. The program will air live from the Wish Bus on Wednesdays at 4 p.m. PHT in June.

An avenue for OPM-makers

Welcoming Filipino singing-songwriting acts all over the country, Uncharted is open to soloists, duos, bands, and vocal groups who wish to perform their original songs aboard the Wish Bus.

While the program mostly caters to unsigned and independent artists, those with previous recording or distribution deals can also be featured, provided that the songs they will send are not covered by their contracts.

Uncharted hopefuls must ensure that their songs have yet to be released or distributed by a publishing house or a record label. Additionally, the tracks must be radio-friendly.

To join Uncharted, OPM acts must upload one to two songs on the platform of their choice (e.g., Facebook, YouTube) and include the links in the program’s online submission form. They’re also free to send links to previously uploaded tracks, as long as they were not released or distributed by a publisher or a label.

Chosen acts will get the chance to share their music on the Wish Bus and must travel to Metro Manila or NCR for their Wish Bus guesting. All performers must cover their travel and accommodation expenses.

Moreover, anyone aged 17 years old or below must submit a signed parental consent form before performing.

An enduring mission

The launch of Uncharted comes months ahead of Wish 107.5’s 9th anniversary in the industry in August. Embodying the station’s long-standing mission to be a gateway for Filipino artists to reach wider audiences, this campaign hopes to discover more OPM gems in the country.

“We at Wish look forward to more years of working silently, steadfastly, and passionately to bring OPM Artists, both up-and-coming and well-known, to the global arena,” remarked Wish 107.5 innovator Kuya Daniel Razon during his speech at the 8th Wish Music Awards in January this year.

“Sa pasimula at maging sa paglipas ng walong taon, kami sa Wish ay masaya at nagsusumikap na maging kasama po ninyo at maging bahagi sa pagtulong upang kayo ay lalong makilala hindi lamang po dito sa bansa kundi maging sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng mundo (In the beginning and in the past eight years, we at Wish are delighted and persevering to be with you, to be of help so that you can be more known not just in the country but also in other parts of the globe),” he further stated.

In a previous statement, indie powerhouse Reese Lansangan lauded how Wish has become an important platform for musicians like her.

“What Wish has done for OPM is incredible, to say the least. The reach of the platform, the breadth of the genres and artists that Wish features — [these] are things that I appreciate as an independent artist. The fact that anybody who makes compelling music can have the chance to share their talent with other Filipinos, that’s amazing,” the “Exploration No. 5” hitmaker expressed.
