Wish 107.5’s ‘365 Anniversary Concert’ Celebrates A Unique Musical Journey

It had been five years since Wish 107.5 was first introduced. And for Kuya Daniel Razon, the innovative mind behind the FM radio station, this period of time flew by both quickly and slowly.

“It has swiftly passed by because a lot has happened since then. It went by slowly because we still want many things to happen,” he remarked during the 365 Anniversary Concert held on August 25, 2019, at the Aliw Theater in Pasay City.

Wish 107.5, under his helm, has introduced groundbreaking projects that left a significant impact both on the broadcast and music industries. The number “365” sums up these milestones: Three Wish Buses, over six million YouTube subscribers, and five years in the business.

During the event, narratives from DJs Ray Holiday, Alice, Jenie, Faye, and Adam gave the crowd a glimpse of how the station has evolved since its launch in August 2014 — from being a young radio station to conquering the digital space.

This chronicling is made more pleasurable and compelling by the performances staged by an awesome mix of musical acts.

From folk-pop sensation Syd Hartha’s front-act stint to the opening medley served by The Wishfuls and Rhea Basco — which featured powerful renditions of “One Day” and “Secret Love Song,” to pop band 3rd Avenue’s take on Orange & Lemons’ “Hanggang Kailan,” the spectators were given more than just a prelude of what kind of musical revelry will unfold throughout the night.

Returning on the Wish 107.5 stage, total performer Darren Espanto got the crowd moving with his version of “4 Minutes,” and nostalgic with his revival of the ‘90s hit “Dying Inside.”

“There’s a fire starting in my heart.” Asia’s Soul Supreme KZ Tandingan fired up the stage and sent waves of emotion and energy to the audience with her performances of “Rolling In The Deep,” “Tadhana,” and “Nag-iisa Na Naman.”

“Thank you so much Wish 107.5 for always including me in your events. I always look forward to performing because of the lively crowd. You always allow us artists to showcase our music. You give us wonderful opportunities to collaborate with our fellow musicians.”

Living up to the hype they first created — them being the first OPM act to achieve 100 million views for a music performance on YouTube, IV of Spades kept the audience on the edge of their seats with their hits “Mundo,” “Bawat Kaluluwa,” and “Come Inside of My Heart.”

Moira then toned down the mood to a more mellow degree with “Tagu-Taguan” and “Ikaw At Ako.”

Her performance of the latter with her husband and fellow musician Jason Hernandez showered a dash of romance to the crowd that has been charged up with the previous performers’ back-to-back high-adrenaline performances.

“Wish has helped me in a lot of ways… I just want to thank you for the avenue you have created for aspiring artists, artists who just want their music to be heard.”

Sustaining the emotive atmosphere, rock act December Avenue brought their hits “Kahit ‘Di Mo Alam” and “Sa Ngalan Ng Pag-ibig.”

They have also enlisted Moira to perform a heartrending performance of their award-winning piece “Kung ‘Di Rin Lang Ikaw.”

Showing pure passion for performing, Ben&Ben took the crowd on a dazzling musical ride as they owned the stage with “Pagtingin,” “Maybe The Night,” and “Kathang Isip.”

During his speech, Kuya Daniel thanked these artists as well as all the OPM acts who have shown their support to Wish 107.5’s advocacy of uplifting the Filipino music industry.

“If they are grateful to have been provided with a platform, we’re also grateful for they’ve joined hands with us in our goal of becoming small instruments to help OPM move forward,” he shared.

Apart from the unwavering commitment to give the industry its much-needed boost, what makes Wish 107.5’s journey more unique and meaningful is the concept of wish-granting.

“One of the reasons why we named our station ‘Wish’ is because we wanted to incorporate charity works to the field of music and entertainment,” Kuya Daniel explained.

On last Sunday’s anniversary concert, Wish 107.5 gave a total of Php 500,000 to five philanthropic groups, namely Coalition of Services of the Elderly, Inc. Make-A-Wish Foundation Philippines Virlanie Foundation, Inc. Visayan Forum Foundation, Inc., and Sunshine Care Foundation, Inc.

“Thank you so much for conceptualizing such projects which aim to benefit non-government organizations. We hope you continue this good deed and may you help more people in our community.”  - Ms. Sherryl M. Loseño, Visayan Forum Foundation Chief Operating Officer
