Wish Date ‘Memoir’: A Memorable Musical Night at the Big Dome

“Memoir,” the ninth installment of the KDR Music House-produced Wish Date concert series, was a one-of-a-kind experience, combining live music from the country’s emerging and well-loved OPM artists along with the emotional storyline of a short film.

This concert was held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City on October 1, 2023.

The musical film-slash-theatrical concept served as a unique way of evoking feelings of love, loss, and friendship. The concert night starred beauty queen-actress Alice Dixson, veteran actress Louella de Cordova, and promising acts from Shaira Diaz, Devon Seron, and Joshua Dionisio.

Wishers sang along with the live performances of featured OPM artists: up-and-coming singer Hakki, talented songsmith Peniel, pop-rock band Moonstar88, acoustic heartthrob TJ Monterde, and Queen of R&B Kyla.

Hakki serenaded the crowd with Paramore’s “You Are The Only Exception,” along with her other tug-at-the-heartstrings renditions.

Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now” was one of the song performances for the night by Peniel.

Moonstar88’s signature single “Torete” and other popular hits “Migraine” and “Sulat” sparked a nostalgic feeling among the attendees.

TJ Monterde’s “Ikaw at Ako” and “Tulad Mo” filled the Big Dome with kilig vibes.

Kyla, the country’s Queen of R&B, moved hearts as she sang her hit OPM song “Hanggang Ngayon.”

Other notable tracks performed include Taylor Swift’s “Long Live,” Jeffrey Osborne’s “On the Wings of Love,” Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You,” Ben&Ben’s “Leaves,” and Adele’s “Chasing Pavements.”

The curated soundtrack complemented the film’s touching storyline, which was brought to life through both recorded and live-acting performances.

In a UNTV News and Rescue interview, Kyla expressed her joy about her first-ever Wish Date experience, lauding the concept of the show: “This is such a good program for artists like me — performers, singers, dancers, and actors acting and singing at the same time. It’s almost like a musical play.”

Meanwhile, Alice Dixson, who played the protagonist in the film, described this experience as unique. “The people that I met here that I got to work with, I think, also, the way that it was produced, it came out really nice. I hope it won’t be the last. I look forward to another unique experience with all of you,” she shared in the same interview.
