What happens when a lost love returns in an unexpected form?

This is the scenario that the newest installment of Wish Date dove into, presenting a poignant short film interwoven with live music and acting performances. Titled “Spring,” the event was produced by KDR Music House and was held on Sunday, April 20, at the Araneta Coliseum.

A bittersweet narrative

Following the tragic death of her fiancé Alfred (Kelvin Miranda), Claudia (Angel Guardian) finds herself inexplicably drawn to Christopher (also played by Miranda). Christopher is a terminally ill patient bearing Alfred's exact likeness. While caring for Christopher, Claudia also forms a deep bond with his mother Anita, blurring the lines between Claudia's past and present.

Despite the growing connection between Claudia and Christopher, his worsening health compels him to make a heartbreaking choice. He decides to bid farewell, hoping for Claudia's happiness and freedom from the burden of his illness.

In a poignant farewell video, Christopher confesses his love and expresses his final wish: for Claudia to care for his mother.

In an interview with Wish 107.5, Guardian and Miranda shared how they related to the characters they played.

“Si Claudia kasi nurse siya. So, maalaga siya sa mga tao, sa paligid nya. Also empath siya, kaya nga nakasundo nya yung nanay ni Christopher na si Anita… feeling ko dun ako nakakarelate [sa kanya],” Guardian enthused.

Meanwhile, for Miranda, it was about his character’s optimism.

“Kay Christopher, [nakaka-relate ako sa] pagiging positive nya… [na] kahit gaano kahirap yung pinagdadaanan nya, kinakaya nyang dalhin,” Miranda noted.

Performances echoing across generations

In true Wish Date fashion, the story was further amplified with live performances from talented OPM acts.

Janine Teñoso captivated the audience with "Don't Know What To Do," "Ulan," "You'll Be Safe Here," and "Di Na Muli."

The evening's performances also featured Nonoy Zuñiga with "Never Ever Say Goodbye," "Love Without Time," "Araw Gabi," and a special duet with Princess Velasco on "What Matters Most."

Speaking of Velasco, the songstress serenaded the audience with "Die With A Smile," "I Don't Want You To Go," and her signature rendition of  "With A Smile.”

For her first-ever Wish Date stint, Jessa Zaragoza delivered heartfelt renditions of "Sa Aking Puso," "Broken Hearted Me," "Sana'y Wala Ng Wakas," and "Basta't Kasama Kita."

Commenting on the show’s concept of combining film and live music, Zaragoza shared, “Talagang pinagisipan, kumbaga talagang hindi minadali.”

A nostalgic highlight of the night, Rey Valera moved the crowd with his timeless hits "Pangako Sa Yo," "Tayong Dalawa," "Kung Kailangan Mo Ako," "Naalala Ka," and "Kahit Maputi Na Ang Buhok Ko."

If you happen to miss it, Wish Date: Spring will soon be back on tour! Stay tuned for announcements and follow the KDR Music House Facebook page for updates on tour dates and locations!
