Wishcovery Grand Finalists Record Original Songs, Album as Wishful 5 in the Works

After showcasing their musical talent on Wishcovery, Wish 107.5’s own singing competition, the voices of grand champion Princess Sevillena and runners-up Kimberly Baluzo, Louie Anne Culala, Carmela Ariola and Hacel Bartolome will soon be heard through their debut album as the Wishful 5.

The rising singers are currently in the process of recording their respective songs for their effort to be released by one of the leading record labels in the country, Star Music.

Acclaimed composers Jungee Marcelo, Jonathan Manalo and Kiko Salazar are all working together for the said project.

“It’s very tough writing the songs, coming with something that would fit each one,” Marcelo, who was also one of Wishcovery’s resident reactors, shared in an interview.  However, he added that he “felt good upon hearing [the Wishful 5] singing the songs.”

“When they gave me my original song, I felt very delighted that I cried. I even called my mother to say that I now have a song I can call my own,” 4th runner-up Bartolome revealed.

According to Culala, recording a song is no easy task, especially when it is an upbeat one.

“Doing an upbeat track is difficult; it takes a lot of vocal strength,” she said, hinting that her original song has that millennial, modern appeal.

Meanwhile, Sevillena said she has high hopes that their musical offerings will be received well.

“[I am] hoping...that people will appreciate my song because it is relatable. It has a good melody, and lyrics that tug at the heartstrings,” the 24-year-old artist said.

All five have also expressed gratitude to Wish 107.5 and Star Music for helping them fulfill their dreams.

“Thank you so much for bringing out all the best that we can give for our songs. We’re blessed to be able to work with you,” Ariola shared on her official page, extending thanks Manalo and Marcelo.

First runner-up Kimberly Baluzo took all the elation she felt to social media while they were recording their album, giving gratitude to God and to those who have patiently helped her.

Marcelo -- the man behind the hits “Ako Na Lang” and Gary Valenciano’s “Hataw Na” -- shared that the five belters are comfortable to work with.

“They can be guided easily. If you say or ask for something, they can give it to you. Our Wishfuls are all excellent, and their musicality comes naturally.”

Apart from original cuts, their anticipated debut album will also feature songs they have performed at the Wishcovery Grand Finals.
