7 Things to Know About Tres Marias

Tres Marias is composed of three of the acclaimed female icons in the OPM industry – Cooky Chua, Lolita Carbon, and Bayang Barrios. These talented women have reigned the Filipino music scene for quite a long time now. As a group and as individuals, let’s get to know them better through this list of 7 things to know about Tres Marias.

1. Tres Marias was formed when Cookie, Lolita, and Bayang kept meeting one another at rally performances. In 2012, they were formally launched as a trio.

2. Let’s get to know each member of Tres Marias, starting off with Cooky. She is part of the prominent ‘90s OPM band Color It Red. They were the one who popularized the hit songs “Paglisan” and “Na Naman”.

3. Lolita Carbon is known as a member of the legendary folk rock group Asin. The group made a special mark in OPM history with their tracks that portray socially relevant messages. Some of these are “Masdan Mo ang Kapaligiran”, “Himig ng Pag Ibig”, and “Balita”.

4. Bayang Barrios is considered as one of the leading authorities in Philippine folk music. She is renowned because of her use of indigenous instruments and styles in her music.

5. Tres Marias is signed by Curve Entertainment, Inc., under the recommendation of OPM icon Gary Granada.

6. They recently released their self-titled debut album which contains their own beautiful versions of sensible OPM hits such as “Bakit Ba Ganyan”, “Wika”, “Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo”, and “Sana”.

7. They also had their first major concert on September 4, 2015 at the Music Museum.
